gl.selfie -failed selfies

30 07 2014

I have been working on my touch.gl application (running on android), this version is about selfie creation in a glitchy way. I think it is really interesting when the users not just composing self portraits, but they are starting to use different decomposing  options. The final selfie become saved and uploaded, published as a realtime result. I presented this project in Budapest during a one night show.

This is the time…

25 11 2013

This is the time when i have to change. This blog is running since 3 years and i had more then 170k of visitors. But now i needed to create a portfolio site which will be online in 12 hours. This blog will be accessible from the new site, which is: davidszauder.com . During the last 2 years i have tried to divide myself between David Szauder and Pixelnoizz, but its just not working. The two identities became one or it was always one. This blog will remain the blog of my work (e.g. here i will post the updates for G_P_G and i will share some useless tutorials). So dear reader please come back a little bit later and check my new site… xxx

failed memories, the 4th selection

12 11 2013

Here is a new selection from my ‘failed memories’. I have been starting to experiment with new solutions, like the ‘augmented portraits’.

coper_8

In these images I apply the notion or phenomenon of „ lack of time”. When I started to develop the ‘Failed memories’ series, my intention was to examine and involve  the notion of time as a factor into my images. To put it more simple, to visualise the factor and importance of time in the mechanisms of the memory, as  without time there is no memory.

dorasflame

I wanted to create an algorithm which needs time to modify the image. More precisely in memory (=image) the traces of the passing of the time is visible. The characteristics of the feedback memory is attempted to be visualized, as it can be told that the process of melting is really similar sometimes, creating linear like visual elements. This is how I imagine the passing of the time in the operation of the memory.

Of course i’am working on some ‘classic failed memories’ compositions, here is a small preview:

Murphy, the story of a fireman: Murphy was the best fireman in the city, he stopped all the fires, until one day there was a fire in his mothers house…

astronauts

Jack and Jacob were friends for a long time. they spent their childhood together, they went to the same school, and finally they both became astronauts, but… but there was just one place left in the spaceship.

GlitchPatternGenerator_5 (experimental release)

13 08 2013

Here is the third public update to the GPG software.

-faster

-now its working on 10.6-10.8

-a few more patterns (pls test the final pattern with different pattern maps, and the “striper” and the “BIT” from the pre effect)

-Syphon In and Out (thanks to V002)

-different resolutions (HD as well)

This is an experimental release because i did not test too much, but funny.

try it!

Failed memories- getting closer

8 08 2013

solidafternoonsm

Solid afternoon.

“These friends discussed Metaphysics all that afternoon, the discussion was too theoretical, so their memory was modified in a physical way.”

Here is the second collection of my “failed memories”, this time i used more geometrical modification and some fragmented glitch algorithm and less random fragments. Iam trying to concentrate more on the narratives and use the past stories of my own family to create these stories.

from Pompidou with glitches

7 08 2013

Last week i was able to visit Center of Pompidou and see my creation in the show. It worked well, its time to think about the future of touch.GL.

Here are several images of the kids who visited the show at the last day.

Touch.GL vs. failed memories

4 07 2013

cheng

Iam experimenting with touch.GL and Failed Memories. Here are the first results. What i really like, is the way how i can have direct acces to the  composition, i mean i can use my own fingers to place the image errors. In the code i used many random parameters, so these compositions  are all unique, there is no undo and option to create the same transformation again. This is why i think touch.gl is a good tool, because iam spending more and more time to work on the composition side.

“this memory was captured in 1976 when wayne and joseph decided to remain friends for the rest of their life. Unfortunately Joseph became unstabile and decided to stop all the relations with the external world. This transformation shows, how his memory changed after this crisis. “
